Download Newsletter Historically, platinum group metals (platinum palladium and rhodium) as they relate to automotive catalytic converters, have traveled the ups and downs of the commodity markets mostly together. When one went up the others usually followed and vice versa.

 Download Newsletter As of this writing, all the markets salvage yards sell to are doing great.  I hope that saying this out loud will not jinx things and I don’t think it will.  The ferrous prices are at decent levels and the forecast is strong for January and February.

 Download Newsletter Just getting back from the annual ARA trade show in Charlotte, here are some of my observations.  This year’s show seemed better attended than last.  It looked like the exhibitors’ numbers were up more than the number of attendees but overall it was a better show than last year.

Just last month I reported that we were seeing the return of thieves to the catalytic converter collectors. Good news! This past month Recore Trading working together with 2 separate yard owners caught 2 converter thieves. In both cases the thieves actually worked for the yards they were stealing from.

[download_link link=” http://www.recoretrading.com/?attachment_id=1036″]Download Newsletter[/download_link] With the beginning of March upon us we definitely have spring in sight, all I can say is “Welcome”!  This has been one of the toughest winters for the salvage and recycling industries that I can remember.  January and early February (as I write this) have been brutally cold.
